The inauguration procession which was broadcast live through the UI Youtube channel and UI Teve was led directly by the UI Chancellor, Prof. Ari Kuncoro, S.E., M.A., Ph.D.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a scientific oration entitled \"Application of Micromagnetic Simulation in Research on the Structure and Dynamics of Ferromagnetic Material Domains\", Prof. Dede said that data storage devices have become an important need for documentation purposes in the current digital era. Hard-disk drive (HDD) type data storage devices are a type of data storage that is popular among the public because they have affordable prices, large capacity, and are quite durable for a certain period of time. In general, HDD type data storage is still popular even though currently there are many uses of the HDD type.&nbsp;<em>solid-state drive&nbsp;<\/em>(SSD) as data storage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prof. Dede sees challenges in the process of recording magnetic media or&nbsp;<em>magnetic recording&nbsp;<\/em>in the future. The challenges are in the form of&nbsp;<em>writability<\/em>,&nbsp;<em>signal-to-noise<\/em>, and&nbsp;<em>thermal stability<\/em>. In addition, magnetic media recording using conventional technology has a capacity limit, which is an average of 1 Tb\/in2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To increase the magnetic recording capacity, new innovations can be created by using&nbsp;<em>patterned-media<\/em>,&nbsp;<em>assisted-thermal&nbsp;<\/em>atau&nbsp;<em>solid state<\/em>. High capacity density of magnetic media recording can be achieved by reducing the size&nbsp;<em>grain<\/em>. However, this reduction in size will have an impact on the magnetization.&nbsp;<em>grain&nbsp;<\/em>become unstable or known as&nbsp;<em>super paramagnetic limit&nbsp;<\/em>(SPM).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Magnetization&nbsp;<em>grain&nbsp;<\/em>so easily changed from one state to another due to the influence of temperature. Magnetization time transition&nbsp;<em>grain&nbsp;<\/em>in the SPM area it is known as&nbsp;<em>N\u00e9el relaxation time<\/em>. This means that if you are able to control the magnetization conditions against thermal fluctuations in&nbsp;<em>grain<\/em>, magnetization stability in the SPM region can be obtained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIn 2008, a research group from IBM Almaden, USA led by Stuart Parkin published a magnetic recording device called&nbsp;<em>Racetrack memory&nbsp;<\/em>(RM). The RM device is in the form of&nbsp;<em>solid-state memory<\/em>,&nbsp;<em>non-volatile<\/em>(RM). The RM device is in the form of&nbsp;<em>Walker breakdown&nbsp;<\/em>and&nbsp;<em>Joule heating&nbsp;<\/em>\"It is a challenge to develop devices so that the domain structure is stable,\" said Prof. Dede.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"684\" src=\"https:\/\/biologi.sci-ui.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/DSC_2298-2048x1367-1-1024x684.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11938\" srcset=\"https:\/\/biologi.sci-ui.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/DSC_2298-2048x1367-1-1024x684.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/biologi.sci-ui.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/DSC_2298-2048x1367-1-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/biologi.sci-ui.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/DSC_2298-2048x1367-1-768x513.jpg 768w, https:\/\/biologi.sci-ui.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/DSC_2298-2048x1367-1-1536x1025.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/biologi.sci-ui.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/DSC_2298-2048x1367-1-18x12.jpg 18w, https:\/\/biologi.sci-ui.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/DSC_2298-2048x1367-1.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to him, one of the\u00a0<em>tool\u00a0<\/em>important in magnetic domain structure research is simulation\u00a0<em>micromagnetic<\/em>.\u00a0<em>Micromagnetic\u00a0<\/em>is a field of magnetism that studies the dynamic structure of magnetic domains using a mathematical approach.\u00a0<em>Continuum\u00a0<\/em>to explain the nature and dynamics of magnetic domain structures. In the last two decades, simulation results\u00a0<em>micromagnetic\u00a0<\/em>greatly assist researchers in the analysis of ferromagnetic domain structures. Therefore, in his research, Prof. Dede conducted simulations\u00a0<em>micromagnetic\u00a0<\/em>by using several models, namely the ball model, the model\u00a0<em>nanowire\u00a0<\/em>lurus, dan\u00a0<em>nanowire notch<\/em>, to observe the structure and dynamics of magnetic domains of ferromagnetic materials. Simulations under conditions\u00a0<em>ground state\u00a0<\/em>provides information on domain structure transitions from\u00a0<em>single-domain\u00a0<\/em>(SD) menjadi\u00a0<em>multi-domain\u00a0<\/em>(MD) of the system energy profile, such as demagnetization energy and\u00a0<em>exchange<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prof. Dede's research on simulation applications&nbsp;<em>micromagnetic&nbsp;<\/em>This is one of the many studies he has conducted. Some of them are:&nbsp;<em>Investigation of Harmonic and in Harmonic Domain Wall Oscillation by Sinusoidal Magnetic Field in the Notched Permalloy Nanowire using Micromagnetic Approach&nbsp;<\/em>(2023);&nbsp;<em>Single-step Laser Ablation Synthesis of ZnO\u2013Ag Nanocomposites for Broad-Spectrum Dye Photodegradation and Bacterial Photoinactivation&nbsp;<\/em>(2023); dan&nbsp;<em>Femtosecond Laser-Induced Photochemical Synthesis of Gold Nanoparticles in Nitrate Solution&nbsp;<\/em>(2022).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prof. Dede Djuhana, M.Sc., Ph.D. completed his undergraduate (1999) and postgraduate (2003) education at the Department of Physics, FMIPA UI. He obtained his Ph.D. from the Department of Physics, College of Science, Chungbuk National University, Cheongju, South Korea (2009).
