There are four categories of awards given to the best delegates in the 2023 PresMUN event. For each best delegate in the council other than Press, the awards given include Best Position Paper, Honorable Mention, Most Outstanding Delegate, and Best Delegate. Specifically for Press, there are two categories of awards given, namely Best Journalist and Best Editorial. In determining the award recipients, each judge in a council, which is referred to as\u00a0chair<\/em>, can have different criteria so that there is a possibility that not all awards will be given to delegates for certain reasons, for example no delegates meet the assessment criteria.\u00a0chair<\/em>\u00a0dalam suatu dewan tersebut.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In terms of the competition flow, all delegates receive a council allocation or council<\/em> along with important documents related to the competition from the committee on June 24, which also coincided with the end of the registration period for PresMUN 2023 delegates. Based on the results of the board allocation by the committee, Dira was placed on the ILO board which raised the discussion topic \"Ensuring the Protection for Migrant Ship Crews of Southeast Asian Origin in Foreign Ships.\" In the board, Dira was required to act as a representative of a multinational logistics company called the Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n Like the other delegates, Dira was required to make position paper <\/em>a maximum of two pages with a deadline for submission on July 3, 2023. Based on Dira's statement, in compiling position paper<\/em> In this regard, he conducted extensive research on the ILO, discussion topics, and the background of MSC as a company. Dira himself also said that position paper<\/em> which he wrote contained his understanding of the topic and problems, the company's views so far on the problems, and the solutions offered to each representative of ILO member countries without including his personal opinions that could interfere with the position of the MSC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Furthermore, during the three days of the discussion session which took place on 7-9 July 2023, Dira tried to propose discussion topics while giving speeches on each topic she proposed. In fact, within the three days, she even compiled dozens of alternative discussion topics to be approved by all delegates in the ILO council and continued to try to give speeches on each topic proposed by other delegates. In between the discussions, Dira also took the time to compile working paper<\/em> which contains the core of the discussion and all the solutions that have been proposed during the discussion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n According to Dira, her role as a representative of MSC in the ILO council was the biggest challenge she experienced during the discussion session. For her, the role was not an ideal role considering that company representatives could not be \u2018sponsors\u2019 in the preparation of a draft resolution so it would be more difficult to take credit for the solutions she had submitted. Nevertheless, she still tried to contribute to the preparation of the draft resolution in the ILO council. In formulating solutions in the discussion session, Dira also considered MSC\u2019s reputation as one of the recipients of the World\u2019s Best Employers award by Forbes for two consecutive years as well as a pioneer of best practices for logistics and shipping companies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n During the discussion session in the ILO council, Dira presented three solution points that generally focus on the development and empowerment of human resources in the context of migrant workers in the shipping industry. The three solution points include MARITIME (Maximizing Awareness, Respect, and Inclusion Through Employee Engagement), SAIL (Safe and Healthy Employment) Protocol, and SEA-STAR (Seafaring Employment Advancement \u2013 \u200b\u200bScreening, Training, and Assessment Resources). <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWhat makes my solution unique compared to others is that most of the participants are more focused on how to protect the rights of the crew without infringing on the sovereignty of each country. However, I offer an approach that focuses on how to directly improve human resource practices in the shipping industry. This includes the process of recruiting workers, providing workers with adequate training and information, and other facilities, such as hotline <\/em>complaints of discrimination and complaints of emergency conditions while sailing,\" said Dira.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In detail, MARITIME focuses on employee engagement mechanisms to create a work environment that promotes diversity, equality and inclusion as well as employee feedback and grievance mechanisms to ensure that deficiencies in employment practices are addressed and cases of discrimination in the workplace are prevented. Furthermore, the SAIL Protocol focuses on efforts to create a safe and healthy work environment by mitigating risks to mental health, physical well-being and worker safety. Finally, SEA-STAR focuses on a comprehensive recruitment process to ensure the suitability of candidate skills and needs for available roles on board and the provision of training and certification required by crew members to improve their competence and understanding of applicable safety standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In detail, MARITIME focuses on employee engagement mechanisms to create a work environment that promotes diversity, equality and inclusion as well as employee feedback and grievance mechanisms to ensure that deficiencies in employment practices are addressed and cases of discrimination in the workplace are prevented. During the event, Dira admitted that she often faced various challenges, both in dividing her time for research and drafting in between other academic and non-academic activities as well as other challenges related to the competition itself which for her were quite draining on her energy and mind. However, Dira always got around it by working effectively and making the best use of her time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
