Depok, December 23, 2024 \u2013 The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of the University of Indonesia (UI) held its 64th Dies Natalis celebration for three consecutive days on December 19-21, 2024. The event was held in the Prof. Dr. Ir. Soemantri Brodjonegoro Hall, UI Campus, Depok, and the courtyard area of \u200b\u200bthe hall, with the theme \"FMIPA UI Strengthens Steps, Synergizes for the Country\".<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This event reflects FMIPA UI's commitment to supporting the grand vision of the University of Indonesia 2024-2029 to become a superior university with a positive impact. This Dies Natalis emphasizes the role of FMIPA UI as a leading science faculty that focuses on research and innovation synergy for the advancement of science and technology in Indonesia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the opening of the event, the Chancellor of the University of Indonesia, Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU., said that FMIPA UI has a strategic role in supporting the advancement of science and technology. He emphasized the importance of collaboration between FMIPA UI, industry, and government to achieve research progress that can provide real impacts for the nation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\"FMIPA UI is not just a higher education institution, but also the backbone of research and technology development to support the vision of Indonesia Emas 2045. We hope that on its 64th anniversary, FMIPA UI will continue to thrive, become the pride of UI, and provide the greatest benefits for this country,\" said Prof. Heri in his speech.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dean of FMIPA UI, Prof. Dede Djuhana, M.Sc., Ph.D., on the same occasion also said that FMIPA UI is ready to contribute significantly to the strategic programs of the University of Indonesia. He emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary research, educational development, and collaboration with industry and government to realize the university's grand vision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\"FMIPA UI is committed to continuing to innovate, strengthen collaboration, and maximize the potential of existing resources to improve achievements and provide positive contributions to the nation,\" said Prof. Dede.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 64th Anniversary of FMIPA UI was also enlivened by a series of Scientific Orations presenting speakers who are leading experts from various disciplines. This event raised crucial issues such as food, energy, and environmental challenges that are the main concerns in today's global discussions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the first day, the speakers presented important topics related to innovation in the fields of research and technology, namely Ir. Sahat Sinaga (Chairman of the Indonesian Palm Oil Council) with an oration entitled \"Innovation in Research and Applied Science and Mathematics to Support the Value-Added and Sustainable Palm Oil Industry\", and Ariyanto Heru Leksono, M.Sc. (Director of PT Besindo Medi Prima) with an oration \"Synergy of Government, Private Sector, and Universities for the Independence of the National Health Industry\".<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The first day of the Dies Natalis was also marked by an award ceremony for outstanding academics and education personnel throughout 2024. A total of 27 lecturers, 8 education personnel, and 14 work units received awards for their contributions, in addition, 20 outstanding students also received awards as representatives of all outstanding students at FMIPA UI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event was even more lively with a Saman dance performance performed by the University of Indonesia Krida Budaya Student Dance League, which added to the lively atmosphere of the 64th Dies Natalis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the second day, the 64th Dies Natalis of FMIPA UI continued with an oration from Prof. Dr. Eng. Kuwat Triyana, M.Sc., Dean of FMIPA Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), who raised the theme \"Building the Future of Health Innovation: Inspiration from FMIPA for the Country.\" In addition, the launch of the Starborn Mengajar Book was also carried out, which was symbolically handed over by the Dean of FMIPA UI to the President Director of PT. Luas Birus Utama (Starborn Chemical), Dr. Ir. Harris Susanto. This book summarizes various scientific presentations presented in the annual seminar resulting from the collaboration between FMIPA UI and PT. Luas Birus Utama.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The second day was also filled with the FMIPA UI Education Expo 2024, an educational exhibition that introduces academic programs, student admission pathways, and other important information for prospective students. This expo is also a place to establish direct communication with high school students throughout Indonesia, prospective postgraduate students, and the general public. This expo also displays various innovative works produced by the FMIPA UI academic community, including research results funded through the Research and Community Service program and Student Funding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As the peak of the 64th Anniversary celebration, FMIPA UI held a Family Gathering on Saturday, December 21, 2024. This activity was filled with a fun walk and tumpeng cutting as an expression of gratitude for all the achievements that had been achieved. This event was attended by the entire FMIPA UI academic community and the extended UI community family, aiming to strengthen relations between students, lecturers, and staff in a more relaxed and intimate atmosphere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With the success of the 64th Anniversary series of events, FMIPA UI has further strengthened its position as a leading faculty in supporting the advancement of science and technology for a better Indonesia in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
About FMIPA UI:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
FMIPA UI was established in 1959 with the initial name of the Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia (FIPIA UI) based in Bandung, then UI planned to establish FIPIA which was based in Jakarta. For that reason, the Department of Education, Teaching and Culture at that time, on May 18, 1960 formed a team chaired by Drs. Lauw Soan Keng with members Prof.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr. G.A Siwabessy and Ir. Kuntoadji and assisted by several experts in Exact Sciences and Natural Sciences including Drs. SA. Manus (Geology-UI-Bogor), Drs. Sri Sabani Soemartono (Botany\u2013UI-Bogor), Dr. S. Soemadikarta (Zoology-UI-Bogor), Prof. Dr. Soemantri Brodjonegoro (Chemistry-ITB-Bandung), and several other experts. Based on the recommendations produced by the FIPIA UI establishment committee team, the Minister of Education, Teaching and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia issued Decree Number 108049\/U.U dated December 21, 1960 concerning the Establishment of the Faculty of Exact Sciences and Natural Sciences at the University of Indonesia Jakarta, opening four departments, namely Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, with Prof. Dr. GA. Siwabessy was appointed as the first Dean of FIPIA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In its development in 1982 the name FIPIA was then changed to the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA). This name change was stated in Government Decree Number 27 of 1981 dated August 14, 1981, which was strengthened by Presidential Decree of the Republic of Indonesia Number 44 of 1982 dated September 7, 1982 concerning the Organizational Structure of the University of Indonesia.
