Annisa explained that the decision to receive the three schools simultaneously was made due to the high demand for educational visits from various schools across Indonesia, while the availability of the Public Relations Team was limited.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cRequests for visits from senior high schools and equivalent institutions have been quite high since the beginning of this year. Meanwhile, the schedule and resources of the public relations team are limited, so it is not always easy to find suitable time slots to receive visits one by one. Therefore, on several occasions, we combine visits into a single session,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Although the visits were held simultaneously, Annisa ensured that the materials and services provided to all three schools remained the same. She expressed her hope that all participants would still receive clear and comprehensive information tailored to their respective needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As part of the event series, FMIPA UI also invited the Head of the Geology Study Program at FMIPA UI, Dr. Reza Syahputra, S.T., M.Si., in response to a special request from SMK TKM Pertambangan Kebumen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n In his presentation, Reza explained that the Geology Study Program at FMIPA UI focuses on fundamental earth sciences that examine the dynamics of the Earth, including natural disaster phenomena. One of its distinctive features is its close collaboration with the Geophysics Study Program at FMIPA UI to address various issues related to Earth\u2019s dynamics in a comprehensive manner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cGeology is not merely the study of rocks; it is about understanding the Earth\u2019s dynamic processes as a whole, from the formation of the Earth\u2019s crust and the movement of tectonic plates to the various natural disaster phenomena that occur around us,\u201d Reza explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He emphasized that career prospects for Geology graduates are very broad and not limited to a single sector. Career fields include subsurface exploration, energy and mineral resources, disaster mitigation, and earth science research related to space exploration. In addition, Geology graduates also have opportunities to pursue careers in the banking and financial sectors, although the mining and oil and gas industries remain the most popular choices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cCareer prospects for Geology graduates are very broad. In addition to the mining and oil and gas sectors, which remain popular, opportunities are also available in the energy sector, disaster mitigation, earth science research, and even the financial sector, which requires data- and risk-based analytical skills,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n After the presentation and Q&A session, the delegation from SMK TKM Pertambangan Kebumen continued their agenda by visiting the Geology Study Program laboratories at FMIPA UI, Universitas Indonesia. During the visit, the students were introduced to various laboratory facilities and their functions in supporting both the learning process and earth science research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In the paleontology laboratory, students studied fossils and traces of ancient life to reconstruct evolutionary history and past environments. Meanwhile, the Crystallography and Optical Mineralogy Laboratory is used to identify minerals and their crystal properties using a polarizing microscope, including the analysis of thin sections of rocks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Meanwhile, the Petrology Laboratory is used to study the origin, composition, and formation processes of igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic rocks. In the Sedimentology Laboratory, students explore depositional processes, sediment characteristics, and the interpretation of depositional environments that form rock layers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Engineering Geology Laboratory plays a role in analyzing the physical and mechanical properties of soil and rock for construction purposes, disaster mitigation, and infrastructure planning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n They were also shown collections of rock samples from various regions across Indonesia, as well as geological mapping equipment used in field activities, such as geological compasses, rock hammers, and mapping tools for structural and stratigraphic analysis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Through this activity, FMIPA UI reaffirmed its commitment to providing broad access to information for prospective students from various regions, while also encouraging the emergence of a young generation ready to contribute to the advancement of science and technology in Indonesia.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Fakultas Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam Universitas Indonesia (FMIPA UI) menerima kunjungan tiga sekolah lintas kota dan lintas provinsi dalam satu sesi pada Selasa, 10 Februari 2026.
