Mohammad Syamsu Rosid, M.T., Ph.D. menegaskan bahwa stabilitas geologi Indonesia saat ini berada pada titik kritis akibat kombinasi dinamika alam dan aktivitas manusia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pernyataan tersebut disampaikan dalam pidato pengukuhannya sebagai Guru Besar Tetap FMIPA UI bidang Ilmu Geofisika pada Sabtu, 11 April 2026, di Balai Sidang Universitas Indonesia, Depok. Prosesi pengukuhan dipimpin oleh Rektor UI, Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dalam pidato berjudul&nbsp;<em>\u201cMitigasi Bencana Geologi dalam Menjaga Keseimbangan Alam terhadap Aktivitas Manusia dan Kebijakan Pembangunan\u201d<\/em>, ia mengingatkan bahwa sejumlah potensi bencana geologi kerap luput dari perhatian, meski memiliki daya rusak signifikan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ancaman Tersembunyi di Balik Megathrust<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Selama ini, perhatian publik lebih banyak tertuju pada potensi gempa megathrust di wilayah barat Sumatra dan selatan Jawa. Namun, menurut Prof. Syamsu, ancaman lain justru berada lebih dekat dengan kawasan padat penduduk, yakni di wilayah back-arc basin yang membentang dari Sumatra, utara Jawa hingga Nusa Tenggara Timur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ia mencontohkan aktivitas sesar darat seperti Sesar Kendeng dan Sesar Baribis yang memiliki hiposenter dangkal. Meski energinya lebih kecil dibandingkan gempa megathrust, dampak kerusakannya bisa jauh lebih besar, seperti yang terjadi pada gempa Cianjur tahun 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Khusus di Jakarta, keberadaan Sesar Baribis disebut masih menyimpan banyak ketidakpastian. Sejumlah patahan aktif diduga tertutup oleh sedimen, sehingga tergolong sebagai&nbsp;<em>blind thrust fault<\/em>&nbsp;atau sesar tersembunyi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Untuk mengidentifikasi ancaman tersebut, Prof. Syamsu mendorong pemanfaatan teknologi Gradiometric Mikrogravitasi atau Vertical Gravity Gradient (VGG) yang mampu memetakan variasi densitas bawah permukaan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"512\" src=\"https:\/\/biologi.sci-ui.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/sci-544.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-17972\" srcset=\"https:\/\/biologi.sci-ui.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/sci-544.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/biologi.sci-ui.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/sci-544-300x200.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/biologi.sci-ui.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/sci-544-18x12.jpeg 18w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Aktivitas Manusia Perparah Risiko<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Selain faktor tektonik, ia juga menyoroti kontribusi aktivitas manusia dalam memperburuk risiko bencana. Di Jakarta, misalnya, eksploitasi air tanah secara berlebihan telah menyebabkan penurunan muka tanah (<em>land subsidence<\/em>) hingga lebih dari 10 sentimeter per tahun di wilayah utara.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBumi tidak bernegosiasi. Ketika keseimbangan terganggu, bumi akan merespons melalui bencana,\u201d ujarnya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ia membandingkan kondisi tersebut dengan kota-kota seperti Tokyo dan Osaka yang dinilai berhasil mengendalikan laju penurunan tanah melalui kebijakan yang tepat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fenomena serupa juga terjadi di kawasan Danau Toba, di mana permukaan air tercatat menurun rata-rata 24 milimeter per tahun dalam enam dekade terakhir, dipengaruhi oleh perubahan iklim dan aktivitas manusia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Solusi Berbasis Sains<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sebagai langkah mitigasi, Prof. Syamsu menawarkan sejumlah pendekatan berbasis teknologi geofisika. Di antaranya adalah metode geolistrik untuk mendeteksi bidang gelincir di daerah rawan longsor, penerapan prinsip geomekanik dalam pengelolaan energi panas bumi, serta penggunaan metode VGG untuk pemetaan struktur patahan di wilayah perkotaan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ia menekankan bahwa bencana geologi tidak semata-mata persoalan alam, melainkan juga hasil interaksi manusia dengan lingkungan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cKita tidak bisa mencegah gempa, tetapi kita bisa mengurangi risikonya melalui ilmu pengetahuan dan kebijakan pembangunan yang selaras dengan keseimbangan alam,\u201d kata Prof. Syamsu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pidato tersebut sekaligus menegaskan pentingnya penguatan riset mitigasi bencana seismik, khususnya di wilayah back-arc basin, serta pemanfaatan teknologi gravitasi canggih untuk mendeteksi sesar aktif yang selama ini tersembunyi.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Guru Besar Tetap Fakultas Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam Universitas Indonesia (UI) bidang geofisika, Prof. Drs.
