Soemantri Brodjonegoro, FMIPA UI, Depok. Forum ilmiah ini mempertemukan peneliti, akademisi, dan mahasiswa untuk membahas perkembangan penelitian kanker, penuaan, serta berbagai bidang biomedis lainnya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Penyelenggaraan BioCARES 3rd juga memperkuat jejaring akademik antara Universitas Indonesia dan Medical University of Vienna (MU Vienna). Forum tersebut menghadirkan sejumlah peneliti dari Center for Cancer Research, Medical University of Vienna, yang berbagi perspektif mengenai perkembangan riset kanker dan teknologi yang mendukung penelitian biomedis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dekan FMIPA UI Prof. Dr. Tito Latif Indra, M.Si., mengatakan penguatan riset tersebut sejalan dengan keberadaan Institute for Cellular and Molecular Biology and Experimental Research (ICEMBIO) yang menjadi bagian dari ekosistem penelitian FMIPA UI di bidang biologi seluler dan molekuler.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"512\" src=\"https:\/\/biologi.sci-ui.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/sci-897.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-18590\" srcset=\"https:\/\/biologi.sci-ui.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/sci-897.jpg 768w, https:\/\/biologi.sci-ui.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/sci-897-18x12.jpg 18w, https:\/\/biologi.sci-ui.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/sci-897-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cICEMBIO memiliki tiga fokus utama penelitian, yaitu kanker, penuaan, dan fertilisasi in vitro. Ketiga bidang ini menunjukkan bagaimana ilmu dasar memiliki keterkaitan erat dengan persoalan kesehatan dan kualitas hidup manusia,\u201d kata Prof. Tito.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Menurutnya, kompleksitas kanker dan penuaan membutuhkan pendekatan yang tidak terbatas pada satu disiplin ilmu. Pertemuan berbagai bidang keahlian melalui BioCARES diharapkan dapat memperluas pemahaman mengenai mekanisme penyakit sekaligus membuka peluang pengembangan inovasi di bidang kesehatan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSaya berharap hubungan yang dibangun melalui kegiatan ini tidak berhenti pada simposium. Diskusi hari ini dapat menjadi awal bagi kolaborasi lain, seperti penelitian bersama, pertukaran mahasiswa dan peneliti, serta proyek riset kolaboratif,\u201d ujarnya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Salah satu isu yang mendapat perhatian dalam BioCARES 3rd adalah extrachromosomal DNA (ecDNA), materi genetik di luar kromosom yang berkaitan dengan perkembangan dan karakteristik sejumlah kanker. Topik tersebut dikaji melalui pendekatan molekuler dan komputasional.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Salah satu pembicara, Dr. Klaus Holzmann dari Center for Cancer Research, Medical University of Vienna, membahas Alternative Lengthening of Telomeres in Cancer. Holzmann memiliki kepakaran dalam onkogenomik molekuler, biologi kanker, profil genomik, serta regulasi transkripsi dalam perkembangan kanker kolorektal dan tumor saluran pencernaan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"512\" src=\"https:\/\/biologi.sci-ui.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/sci-898.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-18591\" srcset=\"https:\/\/biologi.sci-ui.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/sci-898.jpg 768w, https:\/\/biologi.sci-ui.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/sci-898-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/biologi.sci-ui.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/sci-898-18x12.jpg 18w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Melalui materinya, Holzmann mengulas mekanisme alternative lengthening of telomeres (ALT) yang memungkinkan sel kanker mempertahankan kemampuan proliferasinya. Pembahasan juga mencakup karakteristik ecDNA dan studi translasi pada manusia serta anjing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Persoalan kanker juga dikaji dari perspektif biomarker oleh Assoc. Prof. Martin Filipits, peneliti Center for Cancer Research, Medical University of Vienna. Dengan kepakaran pada translational cancer research, biomarker prediktif dan prognostik, serta onkologi presisi, Filipits membawakan materi Prognostic and Predictive Biomarkers in Breast Cancer: Current Status and Future Perspectives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Materi tersebut membahas perkembangan biomarker yang dapat membantu memperkirakan perjalanan penyakit dan respons pasien terhadap terapi kanker payudara. Pendekatan tersebut menjadi bagian penting dalam pengembangan strategi pengobatan yang semakin personal dan tepat sasaran.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sementara itu, Mag.rer.nat. Gerald Timelthaler, juga dari Center for Cancer Research, Medical University of Vienna, mengangkat pemanfaatan kecerdasan buatan dalam penelitian biomedis melalui materi From Images to Insights: AI-assisted Quantitative Microscopy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Timelthaler memiliki kepakaran dalam biologi molekuler kanker, transduksi sinyal sel, khususnya EGFR signaling pathway, resistensi terapi, serta patogenesis karsinoma hepatoseluler. Dalam presentasinya, ia membahas integrasi kecerdasan buatan dengan quantitative microscopy untuk menghasilkan analisis citra biologis yang lebih objektif, reproduktif, dan berskala besar, termasuk dalam digital pathology, high-content imaging, dan analisis FISH.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Perspektif komputasional terhadap ecDNA turut dihadirkan oleh James Howie melalui materi Computational Detection and Characterisation of Circular Extrachromosomal DNA in Cancer Models. Howie memiliki kepakaran dalam sitometri alir (flow cytometry), instrumentasi laboratorium biomedis, imunofenotipe, serta penerapan teknologi diagnostik seluler dalam riset onkologi dan imunologi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Selain menghadirkan peneliti internasional, BioCARES 3rd memberikan ruang bagi mahasiswa dan peneliti untuk mempresentasikan hasil penelitian melalui sesi oral dan poster. Kehadiran peserta dalam forum tersebut juga didominasi mahasiswa, dengan peneliti turut mengikuti berbagai sesi diskusi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sejumlah penelitian yang dipresentasikan mengangkat pengembangan strategi terapi kanker. Salah satunya membahas karakterisasi dan penargetan terapeutik ecDNA pada sel kanker payudara MCF-7 dan MDA-MB-231, termasuk evaluasi kombinasi talazoparib dan kafein terhadap viabilitas sel, stres oksidatif, kerusakan DNA, serta karakteristik ecDNA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"512\" src=\"https:\/\/biologi.sci-ui.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/sci-899.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-18592\" srcset=\"https:\/\/biologi.sci-ui.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/sci-899.jpg 768w, https:\/\/biologi.sci-ui.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/sci-899-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/biologi.sci-ui.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/sci-899-18x12.jpg 18w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Penelitian lain membahas SCAMP3 sebagai kandidat target molekuler pada kanker kolorektal, penerapan CRISPR\/Cas9 dalam karakterisasi target kanker, serta potensi berbagai senyawa sebagai kandidat terapi pada triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kajian biomedis yang dipresentasikan juga mencakup bidang di luar kanker, antara lain Pentose Phosphate Pathway-associated genes selama pematangan oosit babi, perbaikan fungsi fibroblas pada kondisi diabetes, dan penyembuhan luka. Topik tersebut memperlihatkan keterkaitan antara mekanisme molekuler, metabolisme, dan proses biologis dalam konteks kesehatan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sejumlah penelitian turut mengeksplorasi potensi senyawa alami dalam terapi kanker, seperti sericin dan cardamonin pada TNBC serta curcumin untuk meningkatkan efektivitas terapi fotodinamik berbasis 5-aminolevulinic acid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Keragaman topik tersebut menunjukkan bahwa pengembangan riset biomedis membutuhkan keterhubungan antara penelitian dasar, teknologi, dan aplikasi kesehatan. Pertemuan berbagai bidang keahlian juga membuka ruang bagi peneliti dan mahasiswa untuk bertukar gagasan serta melihat persoalan biologis dari perspektif yang lebih luas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kolaborasi internasional menjadi salah satu nilai penting dalam penyelenggaraan BioCARES 3rd. Dekan FMIPA UI berharap jejaring yang terbangun melalui forum tersebut dapat berlanjut dalam bentuk kerja sama penelitian dan program akademik lainnya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Melalui BioCARES 3rd, FMIPA UI memperkuat ekosistem penelitian di bidang biologi seluler dan molekuler sekaligus memperluas jejaring internasional.
