Profile

Riani Widiarti was born in Pangkalpinang – Bangka, on January 2, 1974. She completed her undergraduate degree from the Department of Biology, FMIPA Universitas Indonesia (UI) in 1997, then completed her master and doctoral degree in Marine Science Study Program, Postgraduate School, IPB University, in 2000 and 2021, respectively. She obtained her doctoral degree through the Indonesian Lecturer’s Scholarship (BUDI) from the Indonesia Endowment Funds for Education (LPDP), Ministry of Finance – Republic of Indonesia. Currently, she is the head of Center for Marine Studies FMIPA UI, and also a member of the Steering Committee of IOC Sub-Commission for the Western Pacific Harmful Algal Blooms (WESTPAC-HAB). She had several collaborative research concerning HAB’s topic with other institutions, such as with National Innovation Research Agency in conducting research with topic ‘Potential Threats of the Phenomenon of Harmful Algae Blooms (MAB) and Ciguatera Fish Poisoning (CFP) in Relation to Human Activities in the Gili Matra Islands Marine Tourism Park (TWP) Area’ in 2022.
