Adnan Hasyim Wibowo Wins 1st Place in UI's Most Outstanding Undergraduate Student Award

Adnan Hasyim Wibowo, a student of the Geophysics Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia (FMIPA UI) won 1st place in the UI Main Outstanding Student Selection (Pilmapres) for Undergraduate Level in 2024. This was announced by Prof. Riri Safitri on April 6, 2024 in a plenary meeting held online. The UI Pilmapres activity itself was held on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at the Balai Sidang Building, UI Campus, Depok.

For his achievements, Adnan will represent UI through regional and national level selection stages which are scheduled to be held in May to July.

"I am very grateful to be the UI's Main Achievement Student at the undergraduate level this year. This achievement is not the end, but the beginning and an opportunity for me to provide greater benefits later," said Adnan to the UI FMIPA Public Relations team.

Adnan was selected after going through a selection process and a strict assessment. Some of the assessment indicators include creative ideas, English language skills, outstanding achievements, and psychological tests.

The tight time frame in facing the series of Pilampres selections in between internship activities, as well as off-campus competition activities, is a challenge for Adnan. However, Adnan said there is always valuable experience in every new activity he participates in.

“Meeting with fellow outstanding students from other faculties can provide... networking yang berharga bagi saya,” ujarnya.

Previously, Adnan managed to achieve a number of achievements both at the national and international levels. His achievements range from being the representative of Indonesia and receiving the Excellence Award at the ASEAN Geospatial Challenge 2023, 1st Place at the Petronas Design Thinking Competition, to 3rd Place at the Youth Voice Competition organized by the International Society of Energy Transition Studies.

In addition, Adnan has also had the opportunity to be a resource person in various prestigious forums, including being a resource person from among students at the National Seminar on the Dies Natalis of the Banten Maritime Polytechnic, as a Solution Provider at the Asia Pacific Solution Forum, and most recently he had the opportunity to be one of the speakers at TEDx Universitas Indonesia.

Dean of FMIPA UI, Prof. Dede Djuhana, Ph.D. expressed his high appreciation and gratitude for Adnan's achievements.

"Congratulations to Adnan for his achievement as the first place winner of UI's undergraduate Mapres Utama in 2024. This achievement is an extraordinary achievement for FMIPA UI, because after seven years, FMIPA can finally represent UI again in the Pilmapres event at the national level, so we are very grateful for Adnan's achievement," said the Dean.

The Dean hopes that Adnan can prepare himself as well as possible to bring this achievement to the final stage and lead UI to win 1st place nationally.

"Prepare yourself as best as possible, hopefully you can present national champion 1 for UI," he added.
