13 FMIPA UI Students Win a Series of Awards at the 2023 ONMIPA-PT Event

The 2023 National Mathematics and Natural Sciences Olympiad for Higher Education (ONMIPA-PT) has just ended. The national selection held offline at the CAS, CRCS, and BSC B Buildings of the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), Bandung, on June 13-17, 2023, was the final stage of this prestigious competition among students in the field of mathematics and natural sciences.

As a closing, at the peak of the event held on June 17, 2023 at the CRCS Building ITB, the Indonesian Talent Development Center (BPTI), the National Achievement Center, the Secretariat General of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia, has announced the ONMIPA-PT 2023 winners.

Based on the announcement, 13 students from across Study Programs of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia (FMIPA UI) have managed to make a series of achievements.

The series of achievements consist of 2 gold medals, 4 silver medals, and 7 bronze medals. The gold medal was won by Ahmad Basyir Najwan for Physics, and Gregorius Tendi for Biology.

Meanwhile, the silver medal was won by Muhammad Jilan Wicaksono from Mathematics, Jovan Alfian Djaja from Physics, Muhammad Habiburohman from Chemistry, and Muhammad Irfan Afifudin from Biology.

The bronze medal was won by Jerry from Mathematics, Jonathan Evan, Chaulah Achyar, and Christopher Jenaro from Chemistry, and Shawn Michael Dayanti Intong and Faris Ramadhantyo Darmawan from Physics.

Another contingent from across faculties at UI, namely Rendi Saputra (Faculty of Nursing) brought the Honorable Mention title.

Dean of FMIPA UI Dede Djuhana, Ph.D. said that the achievements achieved in ONMIPA-PT 2023 were a source of pride for FMIPA UI. Because, according to him, this achievement is the result of hard work from students, supervising lecturers, as well as support and facilities from faculty and university leaders.

"Congratulations to the ONMIPA-PT UI team. We also give our highest appreciation to the supervising lecturers and student units of FMIPA UI who have supervised the participants since the selection, training, to the competition at each level," said Dean Dede.

He also expressed hope that FMIPA UI students and students across faculties at UI would be able to improve this achievement in the coming year.

In the national selection stage of ONMIPA-PT 2023, UI sent 18 students competing in four fields, namely Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. 14 of them came from FMIPA.
