Student of Statistics Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia (FMIPA UI) Faza Fahimatul ‘Ilmiyah, had the opportunity to represent the Indonesian Scout Movement in the International Scout Youth Forum organized by the Scout Association of Hong Kong at the Hong Kong Scout Center, Scout Path, Austin Road, Kowloon, Hong Kong. With the theme Scouting in the Post-Pandemic World: A Redefinition, this activity aims to produce several recommendations as considerations for the National Scout Organization (NSO) in making decisions and strategies for restoring scouting activities after the Covid-19 pandemic in the future.
"Through this forum, I can see various different perspectives, how NSOs in various countries act during the pandemic. The discussion that took place will produce an output in the form of a youth forum declaration and will be declared on the last day," said Faza.
Previously, he received a recommendation from the UI Scout Leader to apply as a representative of the Indonesian Scout Movement. After going through several processes, Faza succeeded in getting a recommendation from the National Scout Movement Headquarters as a representative from Indonesia to participate in the activity.
This activity was attended by more than 40 participants from Hong Kong, Malaysia, Mongolia, Japan, Indonesia, Thailand, and the Philippines. Faza, who is an active member of the University of Indonesia Scouts, was the only participant from Indonesia. In general, there were two activities that took place, namely a discussion forum and an educational tour.

Faza said that in the discussion forum, participants were divided into six groups and each group discussed various topics on how to redefine scouting in general after experiencing many changes due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Meanwhile, the educational tour was packaged quite uniquely using the concept of a game called ponopoly. The game works almost the same as monopoly. Each group is guided by a committee to complete the mission while visiting important places in Hong Kong.
"The most memorable thing for me was as a group representative to become a declaration committee tasked with preparing the contents of the declaration from the results of our previous discussion. It is an honor for me to be able to write the name of the Indonesian Scout Movement on the declaration drafting sheet," said Faza, who also serves as Treasurer of the Student Activity Unit (UKM) Pramuka SEKAR Kalpavriksha Universitas Indonesia and Racana Stri Kalpavriksha.
The UI Scout Supervisor, Dr. Retno Lestari, M.Sc., said that this activity was a great opportunity for UI Scouts to be able to participate in the International Scout Youth Forum which was held in Hong Kong from April 28 to May 1. "Through this forum, we can exchange ideas and innovations related to post-Covid-19 pandemic scouting activities with various other countries. In addition, it is also important to establish connections that will be useful for UI Scouts in future activities. I hope that after this activity, it will encourage UI students, especially UI Scout members, to be more actively involved in international activities and can bring a good name to UI Scouts and the Indonesian Scout Movement. Hopefully, the results of this forum can be implemented by UI Scouts, the Scout Movement, and NSOs from other countries," said Dr. Retno, who is also a lecturer at FMIPA UI.
Pramuka UI is not only positioned as a Student Activity Unit (UKM) known as "UKM Pramuka SEKAR Kalpavriksha Universitas Indonesia", but also as a Scout Group (Gudep) based in a university, with the number Gudep 04-373 / 04-374 which was inaugurated on November 28, 1983. Pramuka UI as a vanguard group based in a university aligns the Tri Dharma of Higher Education (Education and Teaching, Research and Development, and Community Service) with Tri Bina Pramuka Pandega (Self Development, Unit Development, and Community Development). Its main activities include, orientation of the vanguard group guests, raising self-image, community service, unit development, kalpavriksha arena, scout visit and exchange, and others.
