Mount Rinjani is a favorite mountain among climbers, and is a popular tourist destination in Indonesia that must be visited by nature lovers besides Mount Semeru. Mount Rinjani tourists are not only interested in local tourists, but also foreign tourists.
There are 3 (three) hiking trails to reach Mount Rinjani. However, the most popular route to reach the second highest volcano in Indonesia is via Sembalun Village. Because Sembalun Village offers natural beauty that spoils the eyes of climbers and tourists who pass through it. Not only that, cafes, hotels, camping ground It started to get busy along the road to Mount Rinjani, and the stretch of farmland at the foot of the mountain complemented the charming landscape. This made some of the people of Sembalun Village start to seriously develop their businesses. travel selain pertanian.
Unfortunately, there are still very few tourist attractions in Sembalun that offer integration between travel agents, accommodation facilities and agricultural education. Therefore, the Bumi Kepanduan Rinjani Community Service Team (Pengmas) led by Windya Fajira (Biology 2019) in collaboration with the Pandu Cendekia Foundation, introduced the Bumi Kepanduan Rinjani program as a Rinjani Tourism Camping Area and Community Prosperity Improvement Accelerator, in Sembalun Village, East Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara to the local community on Saturday, August 6, 2022. This activity is fully supported by the Directorate of Student Affairs (Dirmawa) UI.
Under the guidance of two lecturers from the Department of Biology, FMIPA UI, Dr. Ratna Yuniarti and Dr. Retno Lestari, Windya and the team offered a camping concept combined with agrotourism and edutourism. Regarding the process of building the Bumi Kepanduan Rinjani tent, the team also involved local residents.
"This concept offers tourists to stay overnight, enjoy the beauty of Sembalun, while seeing firsthand the activities of village farmers, tourists can even participate in harvesting activities with farmers during the harvest season, or learn to farm from farmers in Sembalun Village," said Windya to the FMIPA UI Public Relations team.
One of the local people who is also a farmer in Sembalun, Armasih, welcomed this unique camping with an educational tourism concept. According to him, camping with this concept can provide a more enjoyable experience for tourists, so he hopes that more tourists will be interested in visiting Sembalun Village.
"In my opinion, Bumi Kepanduan Rinjani is one of the camping places with an interesting concept. This is because it not only provides a place to stay, but also a place for tourists to learn directly from farmers, so that later it can be a pleasant experience for both tourists and farmers," said Armasih.
The team hopes that the presence of Bumi Kemukaan Rinjani will have a positive impact on the economy of the residents of Sembalun Village.
