FMIPA UI Students Win First Place in Data Management Competition

Putri Maharani Ardiasih, a student of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia (FMIPA UI), Bachelor of Actuarial Science Study Program, class of 2020, won 1st place in the Data Processing Competition Management Administration Great Innovation Competition (MAGIC) UNS 2022 organized by HIMAMA SV Sebelas Maret University.

This was announced online by the organizers through the Grand Closing event which was held on Sunday (5/6/2022).

The national scale competition was also attended by various students from all universities in Indonesia.

In this competition, Putri chose the office administration competition branch in the data processing category with the theme "Melatih Office Automation pada Gen-Z di Era Society 5.0”.

In the data processing category, participants are challenged to analyze and process the data listed in the questions as precisely and effectively as possible by applying formulas to Microsoft Excel software. The data is then presented with attractive visuals, and easy to understand. In solving the questions, Putri and the participants were given a duration of two hours.

Even without a mentor, it did not become a barrier for Putri. She said that her interest in learning various formulas in Microsoft Excel software had existed since she was in junior high school. She believes that it was the provision for her success in winning the title.

“Since junior high school I have been studying Excel formulas, so when I took part in this competition... No "too difficult," said Putri to the FMIPA UI Public Relations team.

That way, he admitted that he did not feel confused when determining an effective formulation in managing data and presenting it.

"I think the thing that might differentiate me from the other participants is the selection of the most appropriate and effective Excel formula. Then, I present the data visualization in the form of a chart neatly and attractively," he added.

In addition, Putri also pays close attention to every sentence that will be used to analyze the data.

"The data analysis that I did was also by choosing sentences that were easy to understand, and not being long-winded in answering questions based on the data provided," said Putri.

Putri further said that being calm in data processing is also no less important. This is to avoid distractions that can break concentration. In fact, concentration and clarity of thought are very necessary for maximum results.

MAGIC (Management Administration Great Innovation Competition) is a student creativity week activity organized by the Student Association of the D3 Vocational School Administration Management Study Program, Sebelas Maret University, Surakarta.

The series of activities held consisted of an Entrepreneurship Seminar, Office Administration Seminar, Human Resource Management Seminar, Business Plan Competition Culinary and Business Plan Competition Digital, Office Administration Competition, Essay Competition, and Public Speaking Competition.

Tahun ini MAGIC mengusung tema “Be a Critical Generation, Think Creatively and Innovatively". This theme was raised with the hope that participants would be able to become a young generation who think critically, are innovative and have the awareness to hone their creativity, so that it can be useful for themselves, others and the environment, and become a young generation who will continue the nation who are strong in facing challenges in the global era.
