In the spirit of strengthening global academic networks, the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia (FMIPA UI) received an academic visit from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) on Wednesday (21/5). This activity is its second step in building strategic cross-country cooperation aimed at expanding knowledge exchange, innovative research, and human resource capacity development.
The visit began with a guest lecture delivered by Dr. Mohd Zamri bin Mohd Yusop from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, UTM, with the topic "Advanced Imaging Techniques in Biological Sciences". The lecture, which took place in the Prof. Dr. G.A. Siwabessy Hall, was not only a forum for knowledge exchange, but also for strengthening cross-disciplinary collaboration.

1,709 / 5,000 Next, a formal meeting was held at the FMIPA UI Central Administration Building, UI Depok Campus. This meeting was led by the Dean of FMIPA UI, Prof. Dede Djuhana, Ph.D., and attended by Dr. Zamri and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Syafiqah Saidin, along with several doctoral students from UTM. In a relaxed but open atmosphere, both parties explained their institutional profiles, superior programs, and collaboration opportunities that could be explored together. Such as undergraduate and postgraduate student exchange programs, holding joint seminars in the fields of biotechnology and biomaterials, and the possibility of collaborative research in developing technology for life science applications.
"Through this excellent meeting and discussion opportunity. I hope we can expand our cooperation in the future," said Dr. Zamri optimistically.
In line with that, Prof. Dede also expressed his enthusiasm for the potential for collaboration that could be realized soon. "We can start with a smaller form of cooperation, such as holding mini seminars," he said.
This activity was also attended by the Head of the Masters and Doctoral Programs in Materials Science, FMIPA UI, as well as lecturers from the Department of Biology such as Dr. Fadhillah, Dr. Ratna Yuniati, and Dr. Windri Handayani. This meeting became a dynamic forum for sharing experiences, as well as opening up concrete opportunities in the development of joint research programs, student and lecturer exchanges, and the implementation of cross-institutional public lectures.
"We hope that this meeting can be the beginning of a broader and sustainable collaboration between FMIPA UI and UTM, in line with the vision of internationalization that we are currently promoting at FMIPA UI," concluded Prof. Dede.
