Enthusiasm and Camaraderie Mark the Final Day of PSAF FMIPA UI 2026

Depok, August 19, 2026 — The Faculty Academic System Introduction (PSAF) program at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Indonesia (FMIPA UI), for the 2026/2027 Academic Year entered its third and final day, concluding the series of activities for 892 new undergraduate students. The final day of PSAF featured a variety of activities, including fun games, the election of the 2026 FMIPA UI Cohort Chair, a parade, and the handover of the Development Banner to the Department Academic System Introduction (PSAD), held on Thursday (August 13).

The third day of activities began with a theatrical performance by PERMAS, presented by students, followed by fun games involving the new students. These activities were part of the program designed to foster interaction and camaraderie among students after they had spent the PSAF series getting acquainted with the academic and student life environment.

Next, the new students participated in the election of the 2026 FMIPA UI Cohort Chair. The election was part of the student leadership development process, while also serving as a moment to build a shared identity and solidarity among students in the same cohort.

The series of activities then continued with the mobilization of new students from the parking area of the FMIPA UI Department of Geography to the UI Rotunda. The Rotunda served as the starting point for the parade, which was attended by all new students.

Following the parade, the new students returned to the parking area and the forecourt of the FMIPA UI lecture buildings to take part in the closing agenda. The activity served as a moment of togetherness after the new students had completed the three-day PSAF series.

The sense of togetherness fostered through various PSAF activities was evident as participants moved from one location to another. The new students walked together throughout the series of activities while also beginning to interact with students from various study programs at FMIPA UI.

The next agenda featured the handover of the Development Banner from PSAF to PSAD. The handover symbolized the transition of the new student development process from the faculty level to the departmental level.

Dean Commends the Enthusiasm of New Students

In his remarks and at the closing of PSAF FMIPA UI 2026, Dean of FMIPA UI Prof. Dr. Tito Latif Indra, M.Si., expressed his appreciation to the new students for participating in the entire three-day series of activities.

Prof. Tito said that the PSAF series had been quite physically demanding for the students. However, the new students were encouraged to maintain their enthusiasm and take care of their health, as the orientation process would continue at the departmental level through PSAD.

“Thank you for staying enthusiastic throughout the entire PSAF series. I know these past three days have been tiring. Keep up your spirit and take care of your health as you move on to the next stage,” said Prof. Tito.

He also reminded the new students to carry the spirit of togetherness they had built throughout PSAF into their journey as FMIPA UI students.

“Let this spirit of togetherness be a foundation for your journey at FMIPA UI,” said Prof. Tito.

With the completion of PSAF at the faculty level, the new students will next participate in the orientation program at the departmental level. This process serves as the next stage for students to become familiar with the academic environment and student life within their respective study programs.

FMIPA UI Inaugurates Reading Terrace

On the final day of PSAF, Prof. Tito Latif Indra and Dr. Mas Ayu Elita Hafizah also inaugurated the FMIPA UI Reading Terrace. The facility was established as a communal space for students to study, engage in discussions, and interact outside of academic activities.

The FMIPA UI Reading Terrace occupies an area measuring 6 × 21 meters, located near the FMIPA UI motorcycle parking area. The facility was a joint initiative of the faculty leadership and FMIPA UI alumni, including Dr. Mas Ayu Elita Hafizah, an alumna of the FMIPA UI Materials Science Study Program, Class of 2009.

The idea for the development of the Reading Terrace arose from students’ need for a comfortable and functional open space. The initiative then developed into a collaboration between the faculty and alumni to provide a facility that supports student activities on campus.

The development of the Reading Terrace was also supported by Antonius Sada Ekartama, an alumnus of the Physics Study Program, Class of 1983, through his contribution to the interior design. Funding for the construction was provided by Ezhar Manaf, an alumnus of the Physics Study Program, Class of 1985.

The Reading Terrace is expected to serve as an additional space for students to study, exchange ideas, engage in discussions, and interact amid their academic activities. The facility is also part of efforts to create a campus environment that supports both academic and student life.

The facility also represents a form of collaboration between the faculty and its alumni in supporting students’ needs. The Reading Terrace is expected to be used sustainably as a shared space for the FMIPA UI academic community.

With the handover of the Development Banner and the inauguration of the Reading Terrace, the 2026/2027 Academic Year PSAF program at the faculty level officially came to an end. The 892 new students will next continue the orientation process through PSAD in their respective departments as part of the initial stage of their academic journey at FMIPA UI.

Also in attendance at the closing ceremony of PSAF FMIPA UI 2026 were Chair of the FMIPA UI Board of Professors and Professor of Microorganism Systematics and Prospecting, Prof. Dra. Wellyzar Sjamsuridzal, M.Sc., Ph.D.; Chair of the FMIPA UI Faculty Academic Senate, Adi Wibowo, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D.; as well as managers, department heads, and heads of undergraduate study programs within FMIPA UI.
