Friday, February 2, 2024, the University of Indonesia (UI) turned 74 years old. In order to enliven its anniversary entitled "Continuously Building a Sustainable Indonesia", UI held various competitions in the fields of sports and arts/creation.
A number of lecturers, students, and education staff from various units at FMIPA UI participated in several competitions. Among them were team badminton competition, team table tennis competition, futsal competition, tug of war competition, walking competition, instagram reels video competition, and band competition.

In addition to the above competitions, UI also held a song writing competition, a tumpeng competition, a singing competition, a fashion design competition from recycled materials, a tennis court competition, and a news writing competition for mass media journalists.
The Dean of FMIPA UI appreciates and fully supports the participation of the academic community and its citizens. He said, "Congratulations to the team that succeeded in becoming the champion, those who have not (won) need not be discouraged. Winning and losing is normal, the important thing is to participate, foster solidarity with teammates, and strengthen friendships between faculties or other units," said Prof. Dede.

FMIPA UI won 1st place in the band competition, represented by Marsulinta Adiguna (Physics 2022), along with four fellow students from the same class from the physics department, namely Abraham Nathan Sunanta (keyboard), Muhammad Ruzbi Anvari (guitar), Octarizky Ramadika Taufik (bass), and Natanael Kevin Sumbung (drums).
The band named Mars Space chose one of the songs, namely "Terlalu Manis" by the popular Indonesian band Slank, from five selected songs that had been determined by the committee. Mars and his friends were considered to have met the assessment criteria in terms of voice material: voice color/timbre, vocal technique: breathing, sound production, articulation, improvisation, pitch accuracy (pitch/intonation), expression and feeling: demeanor and soul, as well as appearance.

Following Mars and friends, a student from the Department of Biology, Keisha Najwa won second place in the Instagram reels video competition. Through a 30-second video with the theme “lets learn and grow up together” In the video, Keisha showed her activeness as a FMIPA UI student in various activities. Starting from practicums, studying and discussing with fellow students, to visiting the UI library. In the video, she expressed her pride in being part of the FMIPA UI biology department.
The assessment aspects determined by the jury in this competition include the number of like, image transitions, creativity, originality of ideas and never having been competed before, and shooting.
Based on the achievements of his students, the Dean hopes that more FMIPA UI students will be motivated to develop their talents other than in academics as additional skills as well as personality development.

Although the FMIPA UI team in other sports competitions had to be eliminated in the early rounds, Prof. Dede as the Dean still expressed his appreciation and pride in his contingent.
He emphasized that in competing the most important thing is to uphold sportsmanship, which is a noble value in sports. He is sure that the entire FMIPA UI team has implemented a sporty attitude in every competition, according to him that has made him very proud.
"What is certain is that we must prioritize sportsmanship. I am proud, the FMIPA UI team has been very sporty during the match," he said.

The series of sports competitions will be held on February 6-16, 2024. The locations are at the UI Sports Facilities Building (SOR) for futsal, tug-of-war and table tennis competitions, the UI tennis court for tennis competitions, and the UI Gymnasium for badminton competitions.
All competition winners received symbolic awards at the peak celebration of UI's 74th Dies Natalis, at the UI Hall, Depok, on Wednesday (21/2/2024). In the event, UI also gave awards to Faculties, Schools, Vocational Education Programs, units within UI, to UI academics and residents who contributed to efforts to achieve the goal of Sustainable Indonesia.
