FMIPA UI – Pertamina University Sign Cooperation to Improve Implementation of Tri Dharma of Higher Education

Higher education is not only a place to develop high-potential individuals, but also a driving force for the birth of innovation, and a center of knowledge excellence that makes a major contribution to the progress of the nation. Through the main pillars called the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, namely education and teaching, research, and community service, higher education plays an important role in shaping a better future for the nation and future generations. In order to achieve this goal more effectively, cooperation between universities and with other parties is very necessary, one of which is through the signing of a cooperation agreement.

As one of the leading faculties in Indonesia, the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia (FMIPA UI) continues to strive to expand its network of cooperation, one of which is with Pertamina University.

Tuesday (25/6/2024), Dean of FMIPA UI Prof. Dede Djuhana, Ph.D., and Vice Chancellor for Research, Development, and Cooperation of Pertamina University Prof. Dr. Techn. Djoko Triyono, S, Si., M.Si. have signed a cooperation agreement in the scope of Education, Research, and Community Service in the fields of mathematics and natural sciences. The signing ceremony took place in the Meeting Room, 2nd Floor, Rectorate Building, Pertamina University, South Jakarta.

In the agreement, both parties agreed to jointly implement collaborative research and resource development in the fields of mathematics and science; organizing scientific activities, scientific studies, seminars, and workshops in the fields of mathematics and science; improving and developing human resource competencies in the fields of mathematics and science; and implementing the Merdeka Belajar – Kampus Merdeka program.

Prof. Dede said that the collaboration between FMIPA UI and Pertamina University was an important step to combine the academic strengths of both institutions in education, research, and community service.

"We are optimistic that this collaboration will provide great benefits in improving the quality of human resources, developing innovation in the field of energy and natural resources, and providing the best solutions for the needs of industry and society," he said.

In line with Prof. Dede, Prof. Djoko said, "We warmly welcome the collaboration of the tri dharma of higher education between Pertamina University and FMIPA UI, especially in the fields of mathematics and natural sciences. This collaboration has great potential to provide strengthening of the quality of education and research, human resource development, and contribution to society, of course by mutually utilizing the advantages of each institution."

This agreement involves Study Programs (Prodi) from FMIPA UI including S1 Mathematics, S1 Actuarial Science, S1 Statistics, S1 Biology, S1 Chemistry Study Program, S1 Physics Study Program, S1 Geography, S1 Geology, S1 Geophysics. Meanwhile, from Pertamina University, the Study Programs involved include Chemistry Study Program, Computer Science Study Program, Geophysical Engineering Study Program, Petroleum Engineering Study Program, and Geological Engineering Study Program.

Also present at this event were the leadership of FMIPA UI Dr. Lukmanda Evan Lubis, M.Si., (Manager of Cooperation, Ventures, and Alumni Relations); Rika Tri Yunarti, S.Si., M.Eng., Ph.D. (Education Manager); Dr. Dewi Susiloningtyas, M. Si. (Student Affairs Manager); and Dr. Denny R. Silaban, M. Kom. (Head of Academic Quality Assurance Unit).

As well as the leadership ranks at Pertamina University, ⁠Prof. Ir. Eddy Ariyono Subroto, Ph.D. (Dean of the Faculty of Exploration and Production Technology & Faculty of Science and Computer Science); Dr. Ir. Farah Mulyasari, M.Sc.
