The 2021 FMIPA UI Terrace Learning Team chaired by Marsha Putri Mahira (Mathematics 2019) carried out teaching and learning activities at the Kafilatur Rasul Foundation, Pancoran Mas District, Depok.
Under the guidance of Dr. Retno Lestari, M.Si., a lecturer at the Department of Biology, Marsha and 9 fellow students who were members of the team held the activity which was a community service program (pengmas) for five months.
Marsha said that the 2021 MIPA Learning Terrace carries the theme "Meaningful Together" which means that the team carries out this community service activity together by helping each other to achieve activities that can provide meaning for all involved.
The activity began with a grand opening on September 11, 2021. Marked by a speech by Zainuddin as the administrator of the foundation and head of the MIPA learning terrace team, followed by an introduction and approach between the committee and students to build a sense of comfort while the learning process is taking place.

"This series of activities is expected to help orphans and the poor at the foundation to have the enthusiasm to learn and easily understand the lessons given due to the lack of learning facilities obtained at the foundation, coupled with the pandemic, children do not get direct learning and still do a lot of learning but so that during online learning, electronic facilities or others are still very limited," said Marsha.
The Saturday Teaching activity took place from September 18 to December 18, 2021. The team divided the learning into 2 sessions, namely the morning session and the afternoon session. Each session is adjusted to the level of education of the participants. The morning session is intended for participants from Elementary School (SD) grades 4 to 6. Meanwhile, the afternoon session is intended for participants from Junior High School grades 7 and 8. The subjects provided are mathematics, social sciences, natural sciences, and English.
Teaching and learning activities not only explain the basic theory of the material but also the theory in the subject. From the learning process, students are invited into practical activities and interesting games according to the material being studied. This aims for students to be able to gain a comprehensive understanding of the material that has been studied.
In addition to the presentation of material and practice, the team also provided a session ice breaking to make the learning atmosphere more enjoyable. In the session ice breaking Participants are invited to sing, play the game of circling the sarong, clap multiples, and tounge twister. Saturday teaching activities were closed with practice questions and closing prayers led by one of the students in turn.
The implementation of this program does not only focus on teaching and learning activities, but also on activities that can encourage the creativity of the participants. For that, the team held an activity entitled funday.
Through funday, participants were creative by painting on glasses to then be made into beautiful pots. They immediately used the pots to plant trees together. Not only that, a series of group games and prize distribution were also carried out on that day.

This activity received a positive response from the participants, they expressed their joy at the end of each lesson by writing on small pieces of paper provided by the team.
"The learning is fun and enjoyable, the teacher is also very good at teaching me," said Ali, one of the students at the foundation.
The participants looked so excited and enthusiastic, they even had the confidence to answer questions or ask the teaching staff, and were always active in every learning activity.
"Thank you to colleagues from UI who have dedicated, transferred their knowledge and shared joy to our children, the Kafilatur Rasul foundation. May you receive a better reward, so that you are successful in your studies, gain useful and blessed knowledge, and obtain a stable and prosperous source of life." Said Mr. Dedeng as the representative of the Kafilatur Rasul Foundation.
The team hopes that this activity program can encourage the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals no. 4, namely quality education.
The success of this program implementation cannot be separated from the funding support from Dirmawa UI. The funding was used by the team to provide decent learning facilities for the child participants at the Yayasan Kafilatur Rasul.
