The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia (FMIPA UI) through the Special Work Unit of the Applied Science Institute (UKK LST), has agreed to establish cooperation in the fields of education, research, utilization of human resources, and science, as well as community service with the Algebra International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) Bogor.

The signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding was carried out by the Head of UKK LST FMIPA UI Eko Waludi, M.Sc. and KH. Khariri Makmun, Lc., M.A. Masyayikh Council and Caretaker of Algebra Bogor Islamic Boarding School, at the Multidisciplinary Research Laboratory Building of FMIPA UI – PT Pertamina (Persero), UI Campus, Depok, on Friday (15/3/2024).

One of the objectives of this signing is the development and mastery of mathematics and natural sciences, in order to produce superior young scientists from Islamic boarding schools.
Dean of FMIPA UI Prof. Dede Djuhana, Ph.D. welcomed this collaboration. In his speech, he said that as part of UI, FMIPA carries out the function of the Tridharma pillars of Higher Education. The first pillar is education, the second pillar is research, and the third pillar is community service. According to him, the collaboration with the Algebra Islamic boarding school is included in the implementation of community service.
"UI's collaboration with the Algebra Islamic boarding school includes the implementation of improving the Tridharma of higher education in the form of community service," said the Dean.
Furthermore, he emphasized that his party is ready to commit to providing special guidance directly to students and students by students and teaching staff of FMIPA UI, who are experts in the field of science. The mentors will visit the algebra boarding school periodically.
In addition, the Dean also said that the teaching team from FMIPA UI will provide knowledge transfer assistance to students and students related to organic waste processing in their Islamic boarding schools. The knowledge transfer will be carried out by adapting FMIPA UI's Fixed Dome Digester Compose technology in the Parangtopo natural laboratory, UI campus, Depok.
"We are committed to providing the best learning experience as we also apply in FMIPA UI, one of which is the use of Fixed Dome Digester Compose technology in the Parngtopo laboratory to process organic waste into quality liquid fertilizer, and produce electrical energy. In the future, we can work together to create waste processing in the Algebra Islamic boarding school by adapting the method under the guidance of the FMIPA UI teaching team," he said.

He hopes that in the future the students will be able to process waste into fertilizer, or create alternative energy independently from the waste.
"Hopefully, with this effort we can jointly encourage students to be able to process waste into fertilizer and energy independently in the future," he added.
KH Khariri Makmun said that by carrying the great name of Algebra, the Algebra Islamic boarding school is very appropriate for developing science at FMIPA UI, which is a leading science faculty in Indonesia.
"Because as the name suggests, the "Algebra" Islamic boarding school is identical to Algebra which is one form of a branch of mathematics whose discussion targets simplification and problem solving by using substitute symbols. In the form of constants and variables, because this science can be said to be one of the branches of mathematics with number theory, geometry and algebra theory in a study," said KH Khariri Makmun.
He hopes that the students of Algebra Islamic boarding school will make this collaboration a good opportunity to develop their abilities in the field of science, and be able to encourage them to create science-based breakthroughs that are useful in improving the quality of human life in the future.
