FMIPA UI Signs Cooperation Agreement with PT Tamaris Hidro to Strengthen Student Research and Internships

The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of the University of Indonesia (UI) strengthened its contribution to education and research by signing a strategic partnership with PT Tamaris Hidro, a company engaged in the electricity sector.

The signing of the Cooperation Agreement (PKS) was conducted by the Dean of FMIPA UI, Prof. Dede Djuhana, Ph.D., and the Attorney General of the President Director of PT Tamaris Hidro, Ir. Adi Dharmanto, at the Floating Room, UI Campus, Depok, on Tuesday (July 8). The event was also attended by UI leaders, representatives of PT Tamaris Hidro, and the partner organization Katamataku.

This collaboration aims to build strong synergy between academia and industry, particularly in the fields of renewable energy and electricity. In addition to FMIPA, the Faculty of Engineering, the Faculty of Law, and the Faculty of Economics and Business at UI are also involved in this initiative.

The collaboration focuses on an industrial internship program for students and the development of joint research in the energy sector. This collaboration is expected to create innovative solutions to future energy challenges while preparing competent and work-ready graduates.

"We welcome this collaboration as a significant opportunity to expand the contribution of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia (FMIPA UI), to the development of science and technology, particularly in the field of renewable energy. We also view this industrial internship program as a valuable opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in the workplace, which will strengthen their competencies when entering the industrial world," said Prof. Dede.

The President Director of PT Tamaris Hidro, Mohammad Syahrial; the Chairperson of Katamataku, Prof. Dr. dr. Yunia Irawati, Sp.M(K); and the Head of the UI Cooperation and Entrepreneurship Agency, Dr. drg. Nia Ayu Ismaniati, MDSc., Sp.Ort (K), also emphasized the importance of university-industry partnerships to build national research capacity and prepare superior human resources in the energy sector.

The internship program will be held annually for UI students who have completed a minimum of five semesters (110 credits) with a minimum GPA of 3.00. A tiered selection process will be conducted by UI and PT Tamaris Hidro. Interns will receive access to industrial facilities, professional mentoring, and meal and transportation allowances during the program.

PT Tamaris Hidro is committed to maintaining the ethics and safety of participants during the internship. UI is responsible for providing accommodation for the participants, converting internship results into academic grades, and conducting regular program evaluations. This agreement is valid for two years and can be extended by mutual agreement. Both parties hope this collaboration will foster a research and education ecosystem that is responsive to real-world challenges and supports the sustainable energy transformation in Indonesia.
