FMIPA UI – BMKG Holds Monitoring and Evaluation Meeting on Achievements of Cooperation in the Field of Education

The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia (FMIPA UI) through the Department of Physics together with the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) held a meeting in order to monitor and evaluate (Monev) the achievements of the Postgraduate education program cooperation for the Even Semester of the 2023/2024 Academic Year, on Thursday (29/8/2024). This Monev was carried out to identify the development of lecture activities, academic achievements of BMKG staff who are currently studying in the Postgraduate program of the Department of Physics, FMIPA UI, as well as to improve the quality of the education program implemented by the Masters and Doctoral Programs of Physics, FMIPA UI.

A total of 30 BMKG employees participated in this cooperation program, consisting of 18 students of the Doctoral program in Physics, and 11 students of the Master of Physics program, and 1 student of the Master of Geography program. They are prepared to become superior graduates who are able to improve the capacity and quality of HR performance in various units within BMKG.

Dean of FMIPA UI Prof. Dede Djuhana, Ph.D. expressed his gratitude to the BMKG Education and Training Center for the trust given to FMIPA UI until now.

"We are very grateful for the trust that BMKG has given us until now. This cooperation program is an extraordinary mandate for us, to contribute to improving the competence and capacity of BMKG staff. We are confident that through in-depth evaluation, we can continue to refine and strengthen this program to achieve better results," said Prof. Dede.

Prof. Dede emphasized that FMIPA UI is committed to continuing to provide the best educational services, and ensuring that every aspect of this collaborative program meets the high quality and relevance standards required by BMKG.

Dr. Nelly Florida Riama, S.Si, M.Si. Deputy for Geophysics BMKG appreciates and expresses gratitude to the leadership, teaching team, and the FMIPA UI mentoring team who have assisted in the implementation of this collaborative program.

Dr. Nelly, who was previously the Head of the BMKG Education and Training Center, also expressed the hope that through this monitoring and evaluation activity, the partnership between BMKG and FMIPA UI would not only become closer, but could also encourage broader scientific and technological advancements, as well as improve the quality of services provided to the community.

With solid commitment and cooperation, it is hoped that this program will continue to produce superior and highly competitive graduates, who in turn will contribute significantly to improving the quality of services and research at BMKG.

"We believe that this collaboration is not only beneficial for the students, but also for the development of our institution as a whole. Hopefully through this monitoring and evaluation, we can achieve optimal results and continue to strengthen our partnership in advancing science, technology and service to the community," he said.

Evaluation and reporting of student learning achievements from BMKG was delivered by the Head of the Postgraduate Physics Study Program, Adhi Harmoko Saputro, M.Kom., Ph.D. in front of the ranks of the BMKG Education and Training Center and supervisors, he reported in detail the achievements of each student. Starting from student study achievements (number of credits and semesters), publication achievements to the percentage of research progress.

He also provided input to BMKG/students regarding the fulfillment of graduate quality standards such as improving journal review skills, sharpening analysis of results found during research to writing scientific journals.

In addition to Monitoring and Evaluation of Educational and Research Achievements, the scope of cooperation in the Postgraduate education program between FMIPA UI and BMKG consists of academic & student assistance, research assistance, assistance in compiling scientific publications, advanced programming workshops, and scientific writing workshops.

Also attending the event from FMIPA UI were Dr. Dewi Susiloningtyas, MSi. (Student Affairs Manager), Dr. Lukmanda Evan Lubis, M.Si. (Cooperation, Venture, and Alumni Relations Manager), Fakhrur Rizqi, S.Sos. (Human Resources Manager), Mohammad Hidayat, S.Sos. (General and Facilities Manager), and the coordinators of related units.

Also present were the team of supervising lecturers from the postgraduate program of the Department of Physics, FMIPA UI, namely Dr. Djati Handoko, Dr. Supriyanto A Pawiro, Dr. Santoso Soekirno, Dr. Martarizal, and Dr. Imam Fachruddin.

Meanwhile, from the BMKG, the leaders of the Education and Training Center were present, including Adityawarman, S.Si, MM, Nina Amelia Sasmita, M.Si, and Septian Bagus Wibisono, M.T.I. As well as the mentoring team, namely Dr.-Ing. Benyamin Heryanto R., S.Si, M.Si, Donaldi S. Permana, Ph.D., Dr. Sigit Pramono, Dr. Widada Sulistya, DEA.
