FMIPA UI Holds ON MIPA-PT 2025 Selection, 83 Students Participate in UI Level Science Competition

Depok, January 30, 2025. The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of the University of Indonesia (UI) successfully held the 2025 UI National Mathematics and Natural Sciences Olympiad for Higher Education (ON MIPA-PT) online selection on Saturday, January 25, 2025. A total of 83 students from various faculties at UI participated in the event that tested their academic abilities in four scientific fields: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

The participants consisted of 55 FMIPA students, 14 students from the Faculty of Engineering (FT), 7 students from the Faculty of Nursing (FIK), 3 students from the Faculty of Computer Science, 2 students from the Faculty of Medicine (FK), and 2 students from the Faculty of Public Health. They competed in solving questions that were compiled according to the ON MIPA-PT national standards.

Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Budiawan, Vice Dean for Education, Research, and Student Affairs of FMIPA UI, stated that ON MIPA is not just a competition, but also a forum for student self-development. "This is where our abilities as scientific people are tested and developed to make real contributions to society, the nation, and the state," he said.

Dr. Dewi Susiloningtyas, S.Si., M.Si., Student Affairs Manager of FMIPA UI and Chairperson of the Committee, said that this selection aims to select the five best participants who will represent UI at the regional and national levels. "We hope that the participants can show their best abilities and bring UI to win the overall championship title at the national level," she hoped.

This event was also attended by the Vice Dean for Resources, Ventures, and General Administration of FMIPA UI, Prof. Dr. Tito Latif Indra, S.Si., M.Si., Head of the UI Student Creativity Reasoning Sub-Directorate, Helman Arif, S.E., M.M., as well as the supervising lecturers and question team.

The 2025 ON MIPA-PT selection tests participants with questions that combine theory and application, adjusted to the level of difficulty that applies at the national level. Participants who pass the UI level selection will be announced on February 7, 2025 and proceed to the regional level selection stage, with the time and place of implementation not yet informed.

ON MIPA-PT 2025 is an academic competition in the field of science for higher education students held annually by the Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia (DIKTI). This competition aims to foster student creativity and innovation in the fields of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (IPA). ON MIPA-PT consists of three stages, namely university, regional, and national levels, where each university has a different selection system and questions.
