The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia (FMIPA UI) held a Pre-Graduation event for the Even Semester of the 2022/2023 Academic Year on Thursday morning (14/9) at the Prof. Dr. Ir. Soemantri Brodjonegoro Hall, FMIPA UI, Depok.
This semester, FMIPA UI graduated 689 students, consisting of 601 undergraduate graduates, 72 master's graduates, and 16 doctoral graduates. They one by one had the opportunity to go up to the stage to receive congratulations and take pictures with the Dean.
Of that number, 7 of them received Summa Cumlaude degrees, and as many as 268 graduates received Cumlaude degrees.
This Pre-Graduation is part of a series of activities that precede the UI Graduation event which will be held at Balairung, UI campus, Depok, on September 21-23, 2023. This Pre-Graduation also serves as a replacement for the dress rehearsal agenda which in previous years' UI Graduation activities was held at Balairung.
Dean of FMIPA UI, Dede Djuhana, Ph.D. in his speech congratulated all graduates for their success in pursuing their education at FMIPA UI.
"I hope today can be a milestone in history for the graduation of 689 FMIPA UI graduates to make brilliant achievements in the future. The achievements you have achieved are proof of your intelligence, perseverance, and dedication, as well as a reflection that we can fight the challenges of life in the digital era. In this digital era, we have learned together to process and actualize ourselves to become better, stronger individuals," said the Dean.
He also encouraged the graduates to continue the process and develop their potential to be able to answer various challenges in the future.
"With the enthusiasm and knowledge you have gained, let us together explore new challenges, and continue to innovate for a future full of hope," he said.
Finally, he reminded the graduates to always maintain ethics in every activity and maintain the good name of their alma mater.
On the same occasion, the Chairman of the Board of Professors (DGB) of FMIPA UI, Prof. Dr. Sumi Hudiyono PWS, said "We should be proud of our alma mater, UI always holds the first rank in Indonesia, this is certainly because UI, and especially FMIPA is supported by adequate resources and facilities to be able to compete in Indonesia and also at the world level. Currently, almost all study programs at FMIPA have obtained international accreditation and are accredited as superior. This proves that the educational process at FMIPA UI has been going very well".
Chairman of the Alumni Association (ILUNI) FMIPA UI, Mr. Satya Heragandhi, S.Si., M.M., M.B.A. said, "The spirit of learning must continue to be pumped wherever you are. Learn to face new jobs, learn to do various things for this country and learn for the greater good for the development of the world. Search passion you, find what you love, and pursue it in the field you master, When you find passion you guys, you will find controlled energy and motivation.”
The physics department alumnus also emphasized the importance of being a humble person to the graduates. According to him, a humble person will always be open to new knowledge and experiences so that it is easier to develop one's potential.
"There are always people who have broader knowledge, there are always people who are smarter and have more valuable experiences than us, learn from others and stay humble wherever you are," he added.
In addition to taking photos with the Dean individually, at this event the graduates also had the opportunity to take group photos with the board of professors, fellow study program colleagues, heads of study programs, and heads of their respective departments.

The event was made even more lively by the performance of the Bajidor Kahot dance by Density, a dance community of FMIPA UI students, and song offerings from Ahmad Irfan Sutanto (Physics 2023) and Sharon Blessline Natalie (Actuarial Science 2023).
