The Taiwanese government through its representative in Indonesia, the Taiwan Education and Trade Office (TETO), invited the University of Indonesia (UI) to visit the country on May 8-14, 2023. This visit was carried out in order to strengthen collaboration in the fields of education and research between the two countries.
During the visit, the Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia (FMIPA UI) Dede Djuhana, Ph. D. became one of the UI delegates led by the Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Abdul Haris, M. Sc.
The Dean said that the visit to several universities in Taiwan has opened up opportunities for cooperation between universities and faculties within them, including with FMIPA UI. The opportunities in question are certainly aimed at developing the Tridharma of Higher Education through various activities in the fields of research and education, such as joint research and publication activities, PostDoctoral atau program mobility for lecturers, student exchanges, and student internship programs.
"The visit to several universities in Taiwan provides potential collaboration within the framework of the Tridharma of Higher Education for lecturers and students, an opportunity visiting research atau postdoctoral, internships or student internships, and learning Taiwanese culture, such as Mandarin," said Dean Dede to the FMIPA UI public relations team.
For information, currently FMIPA UI has ongoing collaborative activities in the fields of joint research and publication, education, and resource development with a number of universities in Taiwan, namely National Taichung University, National Taichung University of Science and Technology, National Taiwan Normal University, National Chung Hsing University, National Chengchi University, National Cheng Kung University, National Yunlin University of Science and Technology, and Feng Chia University.
Therefore, the Dean considered this visit to be an important moment to further expand FMIPA UI's international cooperation network as an effort to strengthen the achievement of FMIPA UI's vision to become a more innovative and competitive faculty.
For six days, the Dean of FMIPA UI together with other delegates consisting of the Dean of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences Dr. Bondan Kanumoyoso, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing Agus Setiawan, S.Kp.M.N.D.N, Head of the World-Class University Team Prof. Dr. tech. Djoko Triyono and Director of the Center for Independent Learning F. Astha Ekadiyanto, M.Sc. had the opportunity to visit the best universities in Taiwan, such as: National Central University, National Yang Ming Chao University, National Taichung University of Science and Technology, National Taiwan University, Taiwan Medical University, and National Taiwan University of Science and Technology.
The delegates also met with the Director General of International Education of the Taiwanese Ministry of Education, Dr. Nicole Yen-yi Lee and had the opportunity to visit Academia Sinica, the National Palace Museum, and the Shung Ye Museum of Formosan Aborigines.
"We are honored by the invitation and welcome of the Taiwanese Ministry of Education. As we know, Taiwan and Indonesia are geographically close, creating many opportunities for collaboration in health, culture, science, and technology research. We greatly appreciate the Taiwanese government for sending its best lecturers to teach in the Chinese Literature study program of FIB UI," said Prof. Haris.
On that occasion, the professor of geophysics from FMIPA UI also presented and offered an international cooperation scheme to the higher education institutions visited. In this series of visits, UI also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with several partners in Taiwan.
