Steven Fernaldy Tanno, a 2020 Actuarial Science Undergraduate Study Program student from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia (FMIPA UI), won a silver medal (Second Prize) in the 2022 International Mathematics Competition (IMC) which took place virtually on 1-7 August 2022 in Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria.
This was announced on the official website of the International Mathematics Competition for University Students 2022 (https://imc-math.org.uk/).
With this achievement, Steven also added to the long list of medals won by 11 other contingents from Indonesia.
12 (Twelve) Indonesian contingents under the auspices of the National Achievement Center of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemendikbud Ristek RI) are members of the Indonesia Math Team and are the winners of the 2021 National Mathematics and Science Competition (KN MIPA) in the mathematics category.
Dean of FMIPA UI Dede Djuhana, Ph.D. congratulated and expressed his highest appreciation for Steven's achievement. He hopes that his student's achievement can motivate other students at FMIPA UI. He advised his students to always be enthusiastic in learning and achieving both on and off campus.
"We, both the leadership and the FMIPA UI community are very proud and appreciate this achievement as highly as possible. Hopefully this achievement can motivate students at FMIPA UI to study and excel, both on and off campus," said the Dean.
The International Mathematics Competition (IMC) is the most prestigious olympiad among mathematics lovers. This year, 2022, is the 29th IMC and was attended by 800 participants from 63 countries and 222 universities. The questions worked on are related to algebra, real and complex analysis, geometry and combinatorics.
