Profile
Astari Dwiranti, M.Eng., Ph.D. is an Associate Professor at the Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Indonesia. She obtained both her Master of Engineering and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Biotechnology from Osaka University, Japan. Her research interests include cell biology, chromosome studies, and cancer biology. Since joining the academic staff of the Department of Biology in 2016, she has been actively involved in academic leadership and research development. In 2024, she was appointed as the Academic Leader of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at Universitas Indonesia. She has led and contributed to numerous research initiatives, including international collaborations. Notably, she participated in a joint research project with Osaka University and Kobe University from 2018 to 2021. In 2024, she participated in a research project with the Medical University of Vienna, Austria, through the ASEA-UNINET program. In the same year, she also collaborated with the Institute of Medical Science, the University of Tokyo. She has also actively presented her work at esteemed scientific gatherings, such as the STEM Education Symposium held in Singapore in 2019, the ASIA Pacific Chromosome Colloquium, Busan in 2020 and the Women in Science Japan – International Symposium of Female Researchers in Chromatin Biology in 2022. In recognition of her contributions to science and research, she was selected as a delegate representing Indonesia at the Japan-ASEAN Symposium on Research in Science & Technology in 2023. Among her accolades is her selection as one of the Top 12 recipients of the Merck Indonesian Young Scientist Award in 2021.
