Welcoming New Postgraduate Students, FMIPA UI Holds Introduction to Faculty Academic System

Friday (27/1/2023), the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia (FMIPA UI) held an Introduction to the Faculty Academic System (PSAF) activity for new postgraduate students for the 2022/2023 even semester admission period, at the Sinarmas Hall, Multidisciplinary Laboratory Building, FMIPA UI – PT Pertamina, UI Campus, Depok.

This activity, which was also attended by the Heads of Study Programs (Kaprodi) within the FMIPA UI environment, was a means of introducing the academic system and matters related to lectures within the FMIPA UI environment.

Vice Dean for Education, Research, and Student Affairs of FMIPA UI, Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Budiawan said the event was also to welcome new postgraduate students from the master's and doctoral levels for the even semester 2022/2023 admission period.

In his speech, Prof. Budiawan said, "FMIPA UI has a vision and mission to improve academic reputation both nationally and internationally. With this vision and mission, of course, the programs we plan are for students to be able to achieve the vision and mission together."

He further said that in the last 5 (five) years, the academic achievements of FMIPA UI were ranked in the top 3 (three) in UI. According to him, this achievement was inseparable from the results of research, national and international journals, and other academic achievements that were successfully achieved by lecturers and students in the postgraduate program.

To the students, he also emphasized that the leadership of FMIPA UI at the faculty, department, and study program levels are ready to provide direction and input to help students in undergoing the lecture process quickly and efficiently in accordance with their capacity and provisions.

Therefore, he advised his new students in the postgraduate program not to hesitate to discuss and consult with their supervisors or the heads of their respective study programs in order to get direction or input, if they encounter obstacles and challenges during their studies.

"Get to know this process, pay attention and follow this event carefully, if during this study period you encounter obstacles and challenges, do not hesitate to discuss and consult with the supervisor, or the head of study program, because we are ready to provide direction and input," he said.

He hopes that through this activity, all new students of the FMIPA UI postgraduate program will gain an overview of lecture and research activities, as well as guidance in completing the tasks that will be undertaken during the study period.

"We hope that this event can provide an overview of how students can go through lectures, research, and complete assignments," he said in closing his remarks.

For information, in the 2022/2023 even semester admission period, FMIPA UI accepted 78 new postgraduate program students consisting of 70 master's (S2) study program students and 8 doctoral (S3) study program students.

New students who attended the PSAF activity were given an explanation about Academic Administration by Rika Tri Yunarti, PhD. (Academic Manager), Publication/plagiarism by Prof. Dr. Terry Mart (Professor of the Department of Physics), Curriculum by Dr. Denny Riama Silaban (Head of Academic Quality Assurance), and Introduction to Academic IT (SIAK, EMAS, Lib) by Adhi Harmoko Saputro, Ph.D. (Head of the Postgraduate Study Program of Physics).
