Maintaining the Quality of Education and Services, CMPB FMIPA UI Undergoes ISO 17025 Accreditation Field Assessment

As an effort to maintain and improve the quality of education and services, the Center for Medical Physics and Biophysics (CMPB), which is part of the Institute of Applied Sciences (LST) of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia (FMIPA UI), underwent a field assessment to obtain an ISO 17025 accreditation certificate from the National Accreditation Committee (KAN).

The field assessment activity was carried out on June 20-21, 2022 as a follow-up to the application sent by FMIPA UI in October 2021. In addition to being an effort to guarantee the quality of service, ISO 17025 accreditation is also an indicator of recognition and excellence which is a requirement for holding Conformity Tests for Testing Institutions appointed by the Nuclear Energy Regulatory Agency (BAPETEN) such as CMPB FMIPA UI.

The field assessment was conducted by two assessors appointed by KAN: Murni Aryani, the Chief Assessor of the National Standardization Agency, and Endang Kunarsih, an expert from the Center for Technology Systems Assessment and Supervision of Radiation and Substance Facilities.

Held in Meeting Room A, FMIPA UI, Depok, Dean of FMIPA UI Dede Djuhana, Ph.D. together with the Vice Deans, Heads of Departments, and Managers in the FMIPA UI environment welcomed the arrival of the assessor team. In his remarks, he emphasized the importance of laboratory accreditation as a form of excellent service to the community and encouraged other laboratories in FMIPA UI to strengthen their efforts towards accreditation.

“We are very grateful that the accreditation process for CMPB FMIPA UI has reached the assessment process. We fully understand the importance of accreditation for laboratories which are supporting facilities in organizing educational and research activities at FMIPA UI. Moreover, CMPB FMIPA UI has also become a testing laboratory that opens training services and radiology equipment suitability tests for many partner hospitals, so that in terms of increasing the competence of radiation protection for patients, our partners are also entitled to quality laboratory services from CMPB. We certainly hope that this assessment process will run smoothly, and obtain results according to expectations,” said Dean Dede.

In this 2-day assessment, an in-depth examination was carried out on the management and technical aspects of the Suitability Test service provided by CMPB UI to clients, in accordance with the ISO 17025 standard to follow up on the completion of the completeness form that has been sent by the FMIPA UI team through the online registration/submission process.

The closing of the event on the second day was also attended by Dr. rer. nat. Budiawan as Vice Dean for Education, Research and Student Affairs, Dr. Denny Riama Silaban as Head of Academic Quality Assurance Unit, Supriyanto Ardjo Pawiro, Ph.D. as Head of CMPB, Dr. Dwi Seno K. Sihono as Manager of CMPB Testing Division, Dr. Lukmanda Evan Lubis as Manager of CMPB Education and Training Division, and Intan Apriliani S. Mu’minah as Manager of CMPB Quality and all CMPB service coordinators of FMIPA UI.

Center for Medical Physics and Biophysics is one of the centers under the Institute of Applied Sciences FMIPA UI which is dedicated to providing services and training related to the fields of Medical Physics and Biophysics. CMPB UI is historically a transformation of the community service provided by the Medical Physics and Biophysics Laboratory (LFMB) of the Department of Physics, FMIPA UI since March 2014.

After the arrangement of the community service unit of the University of Indonesia, all services provided by LFMB were transferred under the Special Work Unit of PPM of the Institute of Applied Sciences (LST) FMIPA UI. The services provided by CMPB FMIPA UI are divided into 2 (two) divisions, namely the conformity testing and service division and the education and training division. The CMPB quality assurance division is also part of CMPB to ensure that the quality assurance of service and training activities organized by CMPB is well managed.
