FMIPA UI Line Dance Team Wins 1st Place in UI's 73rd Dies Natalis Competition

The FMIPA UI line dance team consisting of three lecturers, namely Dr. Dewi Susiloningtyas, M.Sc., Dra. Astrid Damayanti, M.Sc., and Revi Hernina, M.Sc., two education staff, namely Sri Sukarsih, S. Pd., and Bintari Yuniati Mauliana, S.Sc., and one student, namely Marcella Sintauly (Mathematics 2020), won 1st place in the line dance competition in the context of UI's 73rd Dies Natalis.

This was announced at the peak of the 73rd UI Dies Natalis celebration at Balairung, UI Campus, Depok, on Wednesday (22/2/2023). On the same occasion, as the 1st winner, the team had the opportunity to appear live in front of the leaders, academics, and the UI extended family at Balairung.

Dr. Dewi Susiloningtyas, M.Si., as the team leader explained that her team chose the background music Bajing Luncat which is a Sundanese pop genre song from West Java with a little bit of disco music remix arrangement, so that the music beat feels stronger.

He also chose a Sundanese-style team costume with dominant yellow, gold and red colors, complete with Sundanese siger, to match the character of the fairly strong background music.

"The costume tends to have a Sundanese nuance with Sieger but has been modified and combined a little," said Dr. Dewi to the FMIPA UI Public Relations team.

Meanwhile, for the choreography, Dr. Dewi said that she collaborated with Ning Puspa, who is a choreographer from the Central Indonesian Dance Steps Association.

Previously, the team's work has been uploaded on the FMIPA UI Official YouTube channel. Until now, the FMIPA UI timeline dance video on the channel has received 376 likes and 1.9 thousand views.

The winner is determined based on the jury's assessment with components of choreography, movement variation, compactness, expression, and costume.
