Six International Students from FMIPA UI Graduate from Master’s Programs, Strengthening Campus Internationalization

Depok, July 30, 2026 – Six international students enrolled in master’s programs at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Indonesia (FMIPA UI), participated in The 2026 Degree Appreciation Ceremony for UI International Students organized by the Directorate of Education Internationalization of Universitas Indonesia on Tuesday (21/7) at the Makara Art Center, UI Depok Campus. Their graduation marks part of FMIPA UI’s efforts to strengthen an increasingly open academic environment for global talents.

This year, Universitas Indonesia ceremonially graduated 120 international students from 21 countries who had completed their studies across various educational levels. Among them, six graduates were international students from FMIPA UI, all of whom completed master’s programs.

The six graduates were Anymore Majere from Zimbabwe, a graduate of the Master’s Program in Mathematics, who achieved a Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.75 with a Very Satisfactory predicate; Darkon Kudakwashe Chemugarira from Zimbabwe, from the Master’s Program in Medical Physics, with a GPA of 3.83 and a Cum Laude predicate; Inuwa Sani Sani from Nigeria, from the Master’s Program in Geography, with a GPA of 3.77 and a Cum Laude predicate; Kabiru Abdullahi Abdulhamid from Nigeria, from the Master’s Program in Geography, with a GPA of 3.87 and a Cum Laude predicate; Muhammed B. Ceesay from Gambia, from the Master’s Program in Medical Physics, with a GPA of 4.00 and a Summa Cum Laude predicate; and Usman Abubakar from Nigeria, from the Master’s Program in Mathematics, with a GPA of 3.59 and a Very Satisfactory predicate.

All of the students were admitted through the UI GREAT pathway, a master’s scholarship program offered by Universitas Indonesia for international students. The program provides two funding schemes, namely full scholarship and partial scholarship, as part of UI’s efforts to expand access to high-quality higher education for talents from various countries.

Dean of FMIPA UI, Prof. Dr. Tito Latif Indra, M.Si., stated that the presence of international students provides added value to the learning process and research development at FMIPA UI. According to him, the diversity of students’ backgrounds creates opportunities for exchanging perspectives and experiences that enrich the academic atmosphere within the faculty.

“International students bring diverse perspectives and experiences into the learning process. This diversity serves as an added value that encourages the growth of academic and research collaborations within FMIPA UI,” said Prof. Tito.

He hopes that the knowledge and experiences gained by the graduates during their studies at FMIPA UI will serve as a foundation for their future contributions while strengthening academic networks between Indonesia and their respective home countries.

“Congratulations to all graduates. We hope that you become ambassadors of FMIPA UI who carry the values of knowledge, integrity, and the spirit of collaboration in your home countries and wherever you pursue your future endeavors,” said Prof. Tito.

He also hopes that international alumni will continue to maintain their connections with FMIPA UI, so that the networks established during their studies can develop into academic, research, and innovation collaborations that provide benefits for society.

“Continue to maintain your connection with your alma mater and make the networks established during your time at FMIPA UI the foundation for collaborations that create meaningful impacts, both for the advancement of science and for communities in your respective countries,” he added.
