Six FMIPA UI Academics Named in the World’s Top 2% Scientists 2026 List

Depok, October 13, 2026 – The consistent production of high-quality research has once again brought lecturers and researchers from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Indonesia (FMIPA UI), to the international stage. Six FMIPA UI lecturers have been included in the World’s Top 2% Scientists 2026 list, released by Stanford University in collaboration with Elsevier on October 7, 2026.

This achievement recognizes the contributions of FMIPA UI lecturers and researchers to the advancement of scientific knowledge. Their scholarly work not only enriches their respective fields but also serves as a reference for the international scientific community.

Of the six researchers, Prof. Dr. Ivandini Tribidasari Anggraningrum, S.Si., M.Si., from the Department of Chemistry, was listed in the Career-Long Impactcategory, which assesses a researcher’s cumulative citation impact throughout their career up to the end of 2025. Meanwhile, the other five lecturers were included in the Single-Year Impactcategory, which measures citation impact during 2025. They are Prof. Dr. Dipo Aldila, M.Si., from the Department of Mathematics; Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Rosari Saleh from the Department of Physics; and Prof. Dr. Yoki Yulizar, M.Sc., Munawar Khalil, S.Si., M.Eng.Sc., Ph.D., and Dewangga Oky Bagus Apriandanu, Ph.D., from the Department of Chemistry.

This year’s achievement continues FMIPA UI’s consistent presence on the World’s Top 2% Scientists list over the past four years. After recording four lecturers and researchers in 2023, the number increased to six in 2024, followed by five in 2025, and returned to six in 2026. Several lecturers have also been recognized in the same categories as in previous editions.

World’s Top 2% Scientists is the popular name for the Updated Science-Wide Author Databases of Standardized Citation Indicators compiled by Prof. John P. A. Ioannidis of Stanford University and published through the Elsevier Data Repository. The 2026 edition is the ninth version of the database and uses Scopus data as of August 1, 2026.

The list is compiled using several bibliometric indicators, including total citations, the h-index, the hm-index, which accounts for authorship contributions, authorship position in publications, and a composite indicator (c-score). Researchers are classified into 20 scientific fields and 174 subfields. Researchers qualify for inclusion if they rank among the top 100,000 researchers based on their c-score or fall within the top two percent of their respective subfields.

Dean of FMIPA UI, Prof. Dr. Tito Latif Indra, S.Si., M.Si., extended his congratulations and appreciation to the six lecturers and researchers on behalf of the FMIPA UI academic community and educational staff. He expressed his hope that this achievement would inspire the entire academic community to continue advancing high-quality research and generating broader benefits for society.

“The inclusion of six FMIPA UI lecturers and researchers on this list demonstrates that research conducted at FMIPA UI is being cited and utilized by the international scientific community. This achievement reflects the spirit of Science Reborn: Unggul Impactful untuk Indonesia untuk Indonesia that we uphold. We hope it will encourage other lecturers and researchers to continue producing high-quality research with a meaningful impact on society,” said Prof. Tito.

He added that research impact is reflected not only in the number of publications produced but also in the extent to which research findings are read, cited, and utilized by other researchers. Therefore, this achievement provides an opportunity to further strengthen the research culture and expand collaboration at both national and international levels.

Guided by the spirit of Science Reborn: Unggul Impactful untuk Indonesia, FMIPA UI continues to promote the advancement of scientific knowledge, innovation, and research collaboration that addresses societal needs. The inclusion of six lecturers and researchers on the World’s Top 2% Scientists 2026 list serves as a reminder that strong research goes beyond academic achievement and has the potential to make a tangible contribution to Indonesia.
